Everyday thousands of new blogs are going live, yet the popular authority blogs within your market continue to grow and scale in size as well. How are the new comers ever supposed to compete in such a saturated space?

One of the best ways to gain attention for your site is to seek out the top news sources, gurus and authority figures within your niche.

We see this all the time in the “make money” and “blogging” space. I am often asked to participate in interviews, round ups, q&a sessions and much more. The end result is that I get free exposure on other sites and these other sites get to put an “authority” name with their site and content.

In other words… link bait.

How to Grab Authority Attention

This is commonly seen in the entertainment space.

No one cares where they are reading information from on their favorite celebrity, as long as it’s a celebrity that they are interested.

So here’s an example for you…

If you had a site in the weight loss niche and were struggling to stand out from the crowd, here’s what you should do.

Make a personal list of 50 experts in your niche

Contact them through Twitter, blogs and email

Ask them all for their one favorite tip for losing weight

Compile all of the content together in one post

Message everyone you included in the list and hope for them to share it

This process is nothing new and it’s being used time and time again — more importantly, it still works extremely well!

It may seem easy enough, but it actually does take a decent amount of time to compile all of the information and make it look nice in one blog post.

This is just one example of how to build your traffic and brand off the authority of others in your niche. Take a look at your niche and see what type of experts or questions you could be pulling together for your audience.
