Meet Steven Jacobs of EDMSauce.com http://ift.tt/1vPKwQV @BloggingTipsCom #Blogging

1.) Please tell us about yourself and how you got into blogging?

Hey Blogging Tips, appreciate the interview here. My name is Stevo and I’m the CEO and Founder of EDM Sauce. Coming from an online marketing background, I decided to branch out into my own project and try something where I can build a brand. My first blog was a blog centered around reviewing restaurants and bars in the Orange County area. I was young and broke after college, so it mainly was an idea to try and get free drinks from some of my favorite restaurants in the area. In 2012, I had a passion for EDM (Electronic Dance Music) and decided to start a blog talking about the new music I enjoyed.

2.) What is the focus of your blog and why did you choose that niche?

The niche is EDM (Electronic Dance Music). I chose this niche after rediscovering my love for this type of music. It truly is a life changing type of music and scene.

3.) How are you currently monetizing your blog traffic? (adsense, product, paid ads)

I currently monetize the website by using AdSense, an online store and premium advertisers.

4.) What do you know now that you wish you knew when you first started blogging?
Too many things to list!

One thing would be that search engines love longer content. To be included in Google News and be picked up as an authoritative site, Google wants to see longer, more in-depth articles. Before I would just push out as much content as possible, but not really focusing on the length of the articles.

5.) What are three blogs that you visit almost daily?

Well I love my Feedly!

Each day I read typically 200 articles, but of those I’d say some of my favorite are: Entrepreneur, Business Insider, Elite Daily, Search Engine Land, Blogging Tips and Mashable.

6.) Can you give us three recommended tools/services that you use with your blogging? (search tools, keywords, content, social)

For email blasts, my favorite tool is MailPoet. This allows me to create quick and easy email blasts to my e-mail subscribers.

Google Analytics has always been one of my favorite tools on my blog, since it gives me quick and easy numbers in correlation to the traffic I’m receiving.

Finally… WordPress SEO. Yoast has done a phenomenal job at creating an all in one plugin for WordPress.

7.) What advice would you have for someone who is just starting with their first blog?

Don’t expect to get rich off of a blog right away. Starting a blog and obtaining a good amount of fans and followers takes a lot of work and perseverance.

8.) What’s the best advice or tip you’ve discovered about blogging since getting started?

The best tip I’ve discovered over time would be to bring on other writers as well. This helped us really expand our content, point of views and follower base.

9.) If you only had $100 to start a new blog, how would you use it?

For $100, I’d buy a domain name off of GoDaddy. Use a promo code though and save yourself some money. Then I’d buy a hosting package most likely through BlueHost and finally I’d purchase a good theme through ThemeForest.

10.) How can readers of the blog get in touch with you? (social/blog urls)

The best way to get in touch with me is through LinkedIn or by using the contact form on edmsauce.com.
