Dress the Figure You Want
At least once in your life you must have faced the situation that some dress looked perfect on the mannequin in the showcase, but once you’ve put it on, it didn’t look quite as good on you. Why is that? There are different body types, and for all of them, it is possible to find flattering clothes. Famous designer, Hugo de Givenchy, explained this nicely, by saying that a dress should fit a woman’s body, not vice versa. You can easily find flattering clothes if you get to know your figure. Learn what kind of clothes works the best for you, and rock that style.
Clothes down, mirror up
It’s impossible to determine your body type if you have layers and layers of clothes on you. That’s right darling, time to strip down and face the mirror. Although the most precise way would be to take measurements, sometimes all it takes is to look at the mirror and examine your body. The specific body areas on which you should focus are hips, shoulders, bust, waist and thighs. After you establish your figure, comes the best part of the job: shopping!
Apple
For you, the “problem” zone is the midsection. You carry a little more weight in that area, but it is no reason to stress out over. You’ll want to draw attention to the point above your natural waist. The best way of doing that is an empire waist dress. A neat trick is also, to draw attention to your neck with striking accessories. An apple shaped girl is usually a little intimidated by going to the beach, but with a nice one piece swimsuit that will draw attention away from your tummy, that fear is groundless.
Hourglass
You lucky girl. Many people consider this to be the most perfect body shape for a woman. It’s the killer combination of full hips and full bust, with a defined waist. Play on the accentuated waist card when shopping for clothes. Enhance your femininity with a wrap dress, pencil skirt and a fitted blazer. For a little spunkier look, choose skinny jeans that will look stunning on you.
Pear
A pear or triangle shaped lady is fuller at the hips and rear and smaller on the top. The perfect clothes for you should draw attention away from your hips and to your top. Similar like for the apple shape, empire waist will hide the wider part of your body, and there are many designer clothing boutiques that offer a wide array of models to choose from. Full A-line skirts will distract from your hips. Accentuate your upper body with bold accessories.
Column
If you have a column or rectangle shaped body, then you have little or no definition between your hips, bust and hips measurements. Your goal should be to create an illusion of a curvy silhouette. You can accomplish that with an A-line skirts, fitted sheath dresses, high waist pants, empire waist, and wrap dresses. Opt for fabrics that will soften your look and add to it a touch of femininity.
Full bust
When you’re a full busted or inverted triangle girl, that means you are fuller in the bust area than in hips and rear. For your upper body zone a V-neckline will flatter the best. Your bottom half should be accentuated with full skirts, patterns and details. The dress that will suit your shape perfectly has nipped-in waist and open neckline.
Remember that all shapes and sizes are perfect in their own way. And the one thing that I can advise to every girl with every body type: what fits the best for your figures is confidence.Follow Nika on Twitter
