Remember how there was a huge drama issue over Social Media about the protein poster of the super fit and amazing looking model, and "thicker" women freaking out because the model "isn't a real woman?" Yeah I clearly remember that too!
Well this week, Nika has put in her perspective about the whole Beach Body-hate revelation going on, and how "every woman is beach body ready when she puts on a bikini and stands on the beach."
Please enjoy Nika's perspective!
Why You Shouldn't Strive For the "Beach Bod"
Just in case you’ve missed it, ‘beach bod’ is the new hit, and millions of men and women all over the world realized that they weren’t fit enough to go to the beach this summer. Women everywhere have taken up fast diets which should leave them skinny in no time, so they can put on their bikinis and look good while wearing them. Nevertheless, the negative feedback this campaign has got after its release has a lot to do with the message the ‘beach bod’ sends.
Why is ‘beach bod’ wrong?
Ask yourself a simple question: what does ‘beach body ready’ mean? What about all those people with different body types whose body shape makes them look different than those whose weight equals theirs but who look completely different? There is this famous photo of six women who have 154 lbs each but look different nevertheless.
Aim to be healthy and active, not to have ‘beach bod’. With healthy and intensive workout, health comes first, good looking body is a side gift.
Reasons behind your workout
It is only natural that you want to look good on the beach, but what you are willing to do to make it happen should of course have its limits. Girls and women usually choose not to eat practically anything in order to lose weight quickly and be ready for beach in ‘no time’. However, this approach is wrong on several levels, and you will likely end up being sick or with an eating disorder. Counting calories is effective, but taking in less than you need will leave you exhausted and sick rather than fit and slim.
Why you should work out all year long
Besides staying healthy and looking good, if you move and work out a lot, you are reducing the risk of heart disease and high blood pressure. You will also keep your weight under control and notice just how much happier you feel all day long. You will be energized even if you get really tired, and levels of cholesterol will be significantly lower. Having all these health benefits in mind, why would you choose to work out only to look good on the beach?
