Hey lovelies, sorry this post is late in the day! I am using Blogger via App on Android as i don't currently have household wifi.
Nika Friday is here for you, and personally, i've been asked where the "Nika Dosage" is. So here you go!

I love my "new" eyes
Being able to see is one of the greatest gifts the nature has given us. I know that now, just as well as I did fifteen years ago when I got a prescription for glasses I was supposed to wear all day.
Nearsightedness is a condition people either get by birth, develop over time or it can be caused by some head trauma. I got mine from my ancestors (thanks Granny, God bless).
The problems
Not being able to see literally anything which stands further than half a meter is pretty darn frustrating. Especially if you tend to lose your glasses all over the house. Not to mention the nervous breakdown you get when your sister sits on them and says: "Found them! But you don't need to wear them all the time, do you?"
Contact lenses are not the perfect solution either. I mean, I was able to see much, much, much better with them than with glasses since they cover the entire eye (unlike the glasses which served only to see things that were standing right in front of me) and there are no dead angles.
But the costs and the frustration of having to get up fifteen minutes before everybody just to clean them, and not being able to take a nap (you do not want something to happen to the eye while you are sleeping with the lenses on, do you?).
I'll do it!
Enough said, I was frustrated beyond repair. So I have decided to make an appointment - I found the courage and did a research - where should I have it done?
Now, the prices were all pretty much the same, so the competition did all it could just to draw you to them. I remember that I decided to make an appointment with my surgeon because all he did was LASIK eye surgery, unlike some other doctors who didn't specialize only in this but also did plastic surgery. Always look for an expert in their field and never opt for a "Jack of all trades".
What they did is that an ophthalmologist did a series of tests and checkups which proved I was actually eligible for the operation - my sight did not worsen for five years and there were no degenerations that threatened to progress over time.
I did it!
They scheduled the operation two weeks after, and when that day came I was tired and a bit frustrated. I was so nervous during the week that I could not sleep or work, so I was fairly stressed out, thinking of the outcome.
After they gave me some sedatives and eye drops that numbed my eyes in order not to feel the pain, I watched the red light for about 15 minutes while the laser did its magic. I remember my eye twitching and the doctor saying "DO NOT MOVE".
At one point, everything went black and I remember my heart jumping out of my chest and me screaming "I CAN'T SEE!". Being scared of blindness is a primordial reaction, but the doctor immediately calmed me down, saying it is perfectly normal.
You SEE the difference?
After the procedure was done, I went out of the office, and everything was a bit blurry, and the rest of the day I spent sleeping. The drugs were pretty awesome knocking me out. Teehee J Luckily for me, I did not have any complications after the surgery, so I got back into shape in almost no time.
And even though it was all a bit discomforting and awkward, it lasted for a half an hour total - so it was definitely worth it because now I am able to see perfectly. My "new" pair of eyes are wonderful, and I would recommend it to anybody.
